Darwin
Williams
January 28, 1969 – December 25, 2020
Darwin Elliott Williams, son of Mary Helen Oliver Williams and the late Murrell R. Williams, was born in Leary, Georgia on January 28, 1969.
He received his formal education in the Calhoun County School System. Throughout his school years, he was actively involved in numerous student organizations and activities. Darwin was an athlete who loved all sports, but his love for football was apparent from the moment he picked up a ball. He was immensely talented and fierce on the football field and pushed himself daily to become on the best Calhoun County players of all times. He continued his education at Valdosta State University and later earned the Bachelor of Science degree from LaGrange College. Darwin valued higher education and continued his quest for knowledge at Capella University, earning his Master's degree.
From childhood, Darwin was nurtured in the Word of God. As a youth, he professed his faith and belief in Christ; was baptized; and became a member of Eureka Baptist Church. Over the years, he was an active member of the choir and youth department. Darwin was ordained as a Deacon in 1998 and, thereafter, devoted himself to unparalleled commitment and service to this calling. As he continued to avail himself in Christian service, he served as superintendent, secretary, and teacher of Sunday School. His faith and trust in God guided his life and allowed him to be an example for family, friends, church family, and all who came in contact with him.
On December 2, 1995, Darwin was united in marriage to Hutis L. Williams. Their union was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Taylor. He was a devoted father who showered his daughter with unconditional love, unmatched tenderness, and quality care.
Darwin started his professional career at Coca Cola; however, his most rewarding experience was the 28 years he spent with the State of Georgia as a C.D., Probation Officer, and Counselor. No matter what the task, he was always upbeat and ready to tackle anything placed before him. He had a big heart, gave of himself freely, and impacted the lives of everyone around him in a very special way.
On December 25, 2020, Darwin faced the sunset of his earthly journey at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his grandfathers; mother-in-law; father-in-law; and other relatives. Darwin will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of his life.
Loving memories will forever remain with his wife, Hutis L. Williams; his daughter, Taylor M. Williams; mother, Mary H. Williams; grandmothers, Mary D. Oliver and Grace Dudley; numerous siblings; aunts and uncles; two god-daughters and three god-sons; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
