IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David L.
Chester
March 8, 1935 – February 2, 2025
David L. Chester, beloved son of the late J. C. Chester, Sr. and Eunice W. Chester, was born on March 8, 1935, in Calhoun County.
He was educated in the Calhoun County School. A very bright and inquisitive young man throughout his school years, he excelled academically and gained valuable technical and industrial skills that followed him into adulthood.
Having been raised in a strong Christian home, David's walk with the Lord began early in life. He united with Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church where he committed himself to a lifetime of Christian stewardship under the pastorate of the late Reverend C. W. Heath. Through the years, he served faithfully in various capacities and to his calling as a Deacon, Trustee, and Usher. Deacon Chester was a prayer warrior and an unfaltering member of the Benevolence Committee, Athletic Department, and the Culinary Committee. His encouraging words and the examples that he set served as blessings for many people.
A man of many skills, talents, and unquestionable work ethic, Deacon Chester's professional career was diverse and most rewarding. He was employed by the Dougherty County School System where he utilized his construction-related skills to build track fields at both Dougherty and Monroe High Schools. In later years, he was employed by the Marine Corps Logistics Base as a heavy equipment specialist. No matter what the task, he never shied away from a challenge. Upon retirement, he was recognized as a loyal, dedicated employee with an outstanding work record; and a great role model for fellow workers.
Deacon Chester was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend whose heart was filled with kindness, care, and compassion. He was a friend you could count on, a great listener, gave of himself freely, and he never met a stranger. His life was also filled with many interesting experiences. An outstanding baseball player during his early years, his love of sports was forever with him. He was an avid Los Angeles Dodgers and Dallas Cowboys fan.
On February 2, 2025, Almighty God called his faithful servant home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Eunice Misher; and five siblings.
Cherished memories will forever remain with his wife, Chinary Chester; his sons, David Jr. and Derek; siblings, Lillie Chester, Gladys McRoy, Rev. Willie Chester, and Raymond Chester; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends..
