IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David Lee
Lassiter
April 23, 1962 – January 9, 2022
David Lee Lassiter, son of the late J. L. Laster, Sr. and Willie Mae Laster, was born in Lee County, Georgia on April 23, 1962.
He received his formal education in the public schools of Dougherty County where he developed a passion for mathematics and was active in various student events and activities.
Over the years, David took pride in the services that he provided in the construction industry as a carpenter, sawman, and brick mason throughout the Southwest Georgia area. He was a very conscientious worker who thought outside of the box, was totally committed to his job, and worked diligently ensure that his work was flawless.
Fondly known as "Fat Boy," David believed strongly in family ties and responsibilities and he took advantage of every opportunity to spend time with them. Not only was he a devoted brother, nephew, uncle, and cousin, but a loyal friend as well. His gentle spirit drew many to him and he could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. He had a great sense of humor; could always find the silver lining in any situation; and he saw all people as important and worthy of friendship and compassion.
David had a variety of interests throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and watching sports on television. If ever in his presence on game day, you definitely had to cheer for the Atlanta Braves. "Fat Boy" had a big heart and gave of himself freely. Anyone who knew him would agree that he was extremely straight-forward, unpretentious, strong-willed, and never minced words. He will be remembered for his kindness to all people—family, friends, and strangers.
On January 9, 2022, David transitioned from this earthly realm to eternal peace and rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Emma Jean (Charles) Dyson and J. L. Laster, Jr.
