David Allen Lawrence was born on Thursday, January 8, 1959, in Albany, Georgia.  He was the beloved son of the late Charlie Mae Lawrence and the late Johnny Owens.

A proud product of the Dougherty County School System, David matriculated at River Road Elementary School and River Road Jr. High School.  In 1977, he graduated from Monroe Comprehensive High School.

After high school, David enrolled in Albany State College.  As a student, he began working for the institution where he remained in his role as Reprographic Technician in the Word Processing Center for over 40 years.   He also served in various other capacities, including work study supervisor, member and advisor for the Eta Kappa Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi National Band Fraternity, band manager for the Marching Rams Show Band, and member of the Homecoming Parade Committee.

In 1987 while working at Albany State, he met a student from Columbus, Georgia, Marsha Raven.  David was highly attracted to Marsha, and a courtship ensued that resulted in marriage on March 18, 1989.  To this union, two loving children were born—David Allen II and DaSha Alexandria.

While David and his family were going to church, he was not truly saved.  On Friday, March 8, 2002, that all changed when he formally submitted his life to Christ. The     following week, he and his family joined Word of Life Fellowship Ministries under the spiritual leadership of Pastor (now Bishop) Michael A. White. Through the years,     David faithfully served in the following ministries: media, men's, and finance.  In 2009, he was ordained as a Deacon by the House of God Saints in Christ and he continued to avail himself in unparalleled service until his demise.

David was a true servant. He was a workaholic that would not stop until the job was done. He was an example of sacrifice, not hesitating to give his last to help others. He cared deeply for his family and friends. He loved capturing the moment, as exhibited by the thousands of photographs taken both personally and for the church.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, November 10, 2024, David was called to his heavenly home.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael Lawrence and William Lawrence; and his brother-in-law, Floyd Raven, Jr.

Cherished memories will forever remain with his devoted wife of 35 years, Marsha  Raven Lawrence; his children, David A. Lawrence, II of Jacksonville, FL and  DaSha Alexandria Lawrence; siblings, Dianne Lawrence, Brenda Barnes, Brenda Bonner,  Sabrina (John) Owens-Hayes and Andrea (Bishop Michael A.) Owens-White all of  Albany, GA.
