David L. Oliver was born April 14, 1948, in Leary, Georgia.  He was the  son of Mary Oliver and the late Cherry L. Oliver.

He attended the public schools of Calhoun County, graduating from H. T. Singleton High School in 1965.   He continued his education at Albany State (College) University.

In 1968, David heeded the "call for military duty: and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served with distinction.  He was stationed throughout the United States and abroad, and received numerous commendations as he advanced in the military ranks. His final military assignment was Personnel Superintendent at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, where he retired after 24 years of active duty service.

David was a mild-mannered, good-hearted individual with an endless reservoir of love for his family and friends.  He laughed often, felt unbridled happiness, and loved unconditionally.  He was a loving son, a caring father, a supportive uncle, a cherished cousin, and an unforgettable friend who touched the lives of people around him in a very special way.  The strong bonds of friendship that he developed through the years will forever be remembered.  He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of his life.

On August 6, 2019, David's earthly journey ended at his home in San Antonio, Texas.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Oliver.

Fond memories will forever be cherished by his mother, Mary Oliver; children, LaRhonda Oliver, Marcus Oliver, David Anthony Oliver, and Brea-Denise Oliver; his former wife, Pamela D. Oliver; grandson, Michael DuBose, Jr.; four siblings, Tareyton Oliver, Veronica Waters, Mary Helen Williams, and Nancy Virginia Oliver of Leary, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
