Bertrail Marshall
August 31, 1918 – July 13, 2021
The journey of life for Orlando Bertrail Marshall began in Leesburg, Georgia on August 31, 1918. He was the youngest of ten children born to the late Simon and Pinkie Marshall.
He received his formal education in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Madison High School in 1936. Upon graduation, Orlando enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and served with distinction.
A veteran of World War II, he was recognized for his valor and honorable service. At the close of his tours of duty, he was
honorably discharged and returned to civilian life.
Early in Life, Orlando profession of his faith and belief in Christ; was baptized and became a member of Palmyra Baptist Church in
Leesburg, Georgia. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and unfaltering in his Christian stewardship. In later years, he united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Albany where he continued to avail himself in service to his calling as a Deacon and a member of the Male Chorus,
Adult Choir, and Usher Board. After the flood of 1994, he relocated to Valdosta, Georgia where he attended Morning Star Baptist Church.
In 1988, Deacon Marshall was united in marriage to Ocie Jackson. He was a loving husband and father who diligently cared for the needs of his family. For more than 20 years, he was employed with the Albany Turner Naval Air Station where he labored tirelessly; was a dedicated,
and dependable employee; and gave his very BEST until his retirement. Not satisfied with idleness, he reentered the workforce as an
employee of First State Bank where he for numerous years and retired for the final time. Deacon Marshall was a supportive father, a committed friend, a great listener, a confidant to many, and a reliable person who believed in helping others. Oftentimes, he enjoyed hours of fishing, working in his garden and spending time with his family.
On Tuesday, July 13, 2021, his earthly journey ended and he quietly entered into eternal rest. In addition to his parents, his wife, and his
siblings, he was predeceased by his son, Bertrail "Butch" Marshall.
Precious memories will forever remain with his children, Bertha (Howard) Richey, Anthony Marshall, and Jonathan (Tara) Walker of Albany, GA, General Lee (Pat) Molette of Oakland, CA, and Jackie Trent of Detroit, MI; his grandchildren, LaKathy (Ronnie) Baker, Raushanah (Nicholas) Whitaker, Bertrail (Kristie) Marshall II, Syretta Molette, Erica Molette, Andrea Molette, Anthony Marshall, Deatrell Marshall, and Jonathan Walker II; daughter-in-law, Debra Marshall; god-grandchildren, Rashaad, Ja'nessa, and Donaell; eight great grandchildren; and a myriad of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
