Obituary

Deacon Earl Scott, 86, of Leary, Georgia, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Deacon Scott was a self-employed building contractor in the Southwest Georgia area. He was a very active member of the community. He served as a member of the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners from 1987 until 2014. He also served on the Leary City Council for several years.

He was preceded in death by one son, Anthony Scott and one son-in-law, Roy Engram.

A loving and devoted family man, Deacon Scott is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruby Dudley Scott; five sons; William Earl Scott (Dorothy), Melvin Scott, Leonard Scott, Jerry Scott, and Mack Scott (Sherilyn); four daughters, Delbra Scott Engram, Vivian Dubose (Ronnie), Catherine Scott-Jackson (Jeffery), and Rosemary Scott-Carter (Samuel); his sister, Mary Oliver; a daughter-in-law, Geneva Scott. He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and the Eureka Missionary Baptist Church family.
