IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Deborah Gail
Ellis
February 14, 1957 – August 4, 2025
Deborah Gail Barnett Ellis was born in Albany, Georgia on February 14, 1957. She was the eldest of two children in the union of the late Melvin and Nellie Barnett.
She was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe High School in 1975. Throughout school, she was a lively, energetic student and a ray of sunshine to teachers, fellow classmates, and friends.
From a very early age, Deborah was taught to love and reverence God. She was prayerful in her daily walk and remained steadfast in her faith and belief in Jesus Christ.
In 1979, Deborah married Terry Ellis, Sr. who preceded her in death. Their union was blessed with two sons, Terry Jr. and Terrynce. She was a devoted wife and mother who ate not the bread of idleness, but diligently cared for the needs of her family. Obtaining employment was never a problem for Deborah, as she was a very determined, conscientious, and persistent individual who was no stranger to hard work. She was employed as an Emergency Room receptionist at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for many years before joining the ranks of employees at Denson Enterprise Call Center. In both work settings, Deborah was an exceptional employee with unmatched work ethics and drive. She always gave her best—no matter what the task.
Life was precious to Deborah and she genuinely cherished every moment spent here on earth. She was a pillar of fortitude and strength; took great pride in helping others—never asking anything in return; enjoyed playing Bingo with friends and family, including Melinda Hicks and Mary Ellis; was full of humor and wit; and always found a silver lining in every situation. Even in the midst of health challenges brought on by a stroke, she persevered courageously while residing at Wynfield Park. Her sweet and simple demeanor won the trust and hearts of many who endearingly called her Gummy Bear or Auntie. Her lifelong friend and employee of Wynfield, Debra Davis was a constant companion and source of comfort; while Bridget Route spent countless hours painting her nails and styling her hair. They spared no effort in ensuring her well-being and assisting her sons.
On August 4, 2025, Deborah transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace and rest.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by her sons, Terry Ellis, Jr. (Tasia) of San Antonio, TX and Terrynce Ellis (Shatavia) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; her brother, Alvin Barnett (Patricia), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
