Deborah Lee Rakestrau was born in Hartford, Connecticut on December 26, 1953. She was the beloved daughter of the late Leroy and Barbara Rakestrau.

Growing up in Hartford, she received her early childhood and secondary education in the Hartford Public School District. She was a very inquisitive student with a zeal for learning and she garnered much from her educational and co-curricula experiences.

Deborah was a very conscientious individual who, when it came to work, was extremely methodical and precise in all that she did. As an assembler with Pratt and Whitney Aerospace Company, she put everything she had into her work and excelled exceptionally well. During her career, she was recognized by her supervisors for her commitment, dedication, and accuracy in her work performance.

In later years, Deborah relocated to Albany, Georgia with her family. She was blessed with three loving children who were taught to love God, to love one another, and to be kind-hearted and respectful. She was a God-fearing, strong woman of faith whose life was filled with an endless reservoir of love for her family. Often described as stern yet fair, firm yet kind hearted, strong yet supportive, Deborah stood for what was right and was always available with a hug or listening ear. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend whose compassionate spirit, encouraging words, and kind deeds enriched the lives of all who knew her—especially her grandchildren who held the key to her heart.

On May 17, 2023, Deborah transitioned from this earthly life; thus, leaving a void in the hearts of family and friends who loved her dearly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Javon Keith Rakestrau; and three siblings, Keith Leroy Rakestrau, Gregory Lindsey Rakestrau, and Shawn Adam Rakestrau.

Loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of her children, Kendall Love and Deborah Lee (Calvin) Wright; siblings, Rodney Ernest (Patricia) Rakestrau, Gary Fleming (Yolanda) Rakestrau, Glen Eric Rakestrau, Dawn Alexis Amore Rakestrau, Terrance Baker, and Sharon Baisley; grandchildren, London West, Asia West, Isreal Shead, and Tadae Love; great grandchildren, Tyrone McClendon and Azaria West; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
