Debra D. Roney was born in Albany, Georgia on August 30, 1954, She was the daughter of the late Dan and Bernice Roney.

She received her formal education in the Dougherty County School System.  Throughout school, Cathy was a lively, energetic student and a ray of sunshine to teachers, fellow students, and friends.

At a very young age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.  She was a devoted member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church where she served faithfully in numerous capacities under the guidance and leadership of Pastor Edward J. Heath.  Through the years, she never ceased to give God the glory for the blessings in her life.

"Madale," as she was affectionately called by her friends and bonus children, was a loving and caring mother who looked well to the ways of her household.  She was blessed not only with children, but grandchildren and great grandchildren who  were a source of joy and pride in her life.  The family shared many happy and precious moments together and truly enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.

Loving mother, caring sister, nurturing aunt, reliable cousin, and compassionate friend, Debra had a big heart and was a pleasure to be around.   She believed deeply in unconditional love, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and delighted in helping others.  Her friendliness and kindness to all people and her devotion and love for family and friends are lasting tributes to the beauty of her heart and soul.  She will be deeply missed by all who loved her dearly.

On October 6, 2021, Debra answered the Master's call to eternal peace and rest.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son,  Marcus Roney; and her brother, Willie Johnson.

Fond memories will be forever cherished by her children, Cynthia Roney-Seay of Atlanta, GA, and Sabrina Roney-McClain, Dewain Roney, Randy Roney, Daphene Roney all of Albany, GA; siblings Tami Roney, Bernita Thomas, and Dan (Stacy) Roney of Albany, GA, and Carolyn Roney-Simmons and Linda Roney of Tampa, FL; twenty grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; godson, Orenthia Ward; nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
