IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Delinda Jones
Bryant
September 24, 1956 – December 22, 2023
"So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory."
Delinda Jones Bryant was born in Albany, Georgia on September 24, 1956, to the late J. C. and Lillie Mae Jones.
She was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Westover High School. She continued her education at Albany State College; and later graduated from the University of Phoenix with a degree in Criminal Justice.
Delinda accepted Christ at a young age and began a lifetime of Christian stewardship. She was a dedicated member of Turning Point Church where she served faithfully in various capacities. Through each season of her life, she remained steadfast and prayerful—always giving God the praise.
She was joined in holy matrimony to Genious Bryant who preceded her in death. They shared a bond that was strong and unshakeable while honoring their vows to love and cherish each other. As a wife and mother, Delinda looked well to the ways of her household and ate not the bread of idleness. Over the years, she worked untiringly to pursue excellence in her employment as a machine operator specialist with M & M Mars. She was an enthusiastic employee who always looked for optimal solutions to complex problems and was never backed away from a challenge. Her passion and professional ethics often compelled her to go far beyond the call of duty. She retired after rendering more than 20 years of service.
A very engaging person with a zest for life, Delinda was a beacon of inspiration and a driving force in the pursuit of a more just and equitable society. She was the Founder and CEO of Albany Voter's Coalition. In this non-profit realm, she worked tirelessly encouraging and assisting citizens in the local community and surrounding communities to register and get out to vote so their voices could be heard. Delinda's dedication and engagement in the community truly exhibited her passion for servant leadership. Her unwavering commitment to social progress also included membership in Community Builders and 1000 Women Strong. She was recognized by the Department of Community and Economic Development for her tireless, ongoing efforts, vision, and civic leadership to promote equity in communities throughout Southwest Georgia.
Delinda was a very outspoken yet humble individual. She had a big heart; would do anything to help anyone in need; and she was a role model to all who knew her. Yes, to know her was definitely to love her!
On December 22, 2023, Delinda transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest and peace. In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Bobby R. Jones; grandson, David Brown; and two siblings, Walter C. Jones and Willie C. Jones.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by her children, Willie C. Banks, Shantisa Q. Brown, Naim S. Banks, and Faheem A. Banks; her sister, Lottie Mae Brown; grandchildren, Jessica Brown, LaDashia Whitfield, Bobby Jones, Mercedes Jones, Jordan Alford, Audriana Irvin, Jonniya Davis, JaDavia Brown, and Alexis Banks; one great grandchild, Erriana Williams; her goddaughter, Frances Tift; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
