Obituary

The journey of life for Dexter Wayne Atkins began in Albany, Georgia on November 8, 1967. He was the son of the late Mary Lou and Jimmy Lee Atkins.  Wayne was educated in the Dougherty County School System. Throughout school, he was a lively, strong -willed young man; was actively involved in various student activities and events; and was always ready for adventure. His work ethics developed early as he began a 37 -year career as a professional residential and commercial painter.

Over the years he took great pride in the services he provided and worked diligently to ensure that his work was of the highest quality. Highly sought after in the industry, Wayne spent the last 25 years of his career as an employee of Quality Painting Company where he continued to maintain his standards of excellence and exceptional work
performance.

Simply a true joy to everyone around him, Dexter had a fierce love for his family and friends. His contagious smile and happy demeanor could light up a room and there was  never a dull moment when in his presence. He was a strong man—not only physically, but built of character and personal conviction. Known as a kind, fun -loving, caring, and upbeat individual, Wayne was often described as a "fashionable, best dressed individual with a style and flair of his own—even down to his painter uniform ."

Dexter had a variety of interests throughout his life. He enjoyed playing dominos and chess, watching sports, and
spending time with family and friends. He had a big heart, gave of himself freely, and will be deeply missed by many people who had the privilege of being a part of his life.

On Saturday, December 2, 2023, Dexter faced the sunset of his earthly journey and transitioned to eternal rest. In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Thoretha Childs, Cynthia Atkins, and Victor Atkins.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by his beloved wife, Sabrina Wilcox -Atkins; his children, Dexter (Laura) Atkins and Ashley Atkins; stepchildren, Ricky (Lakeshia) Roberts, Latoria Wilcox, and Ricdreques Roberts; his brother, Gary (Gladys) Atkins of Titusville, FL; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended
family, and close friends.
