Obituary

Dionte Nelson, age 34, completed his final assignment and graduated from this earthly life on May 7, 2025, entering eternal rest in the loving arms of God. With grace and quiet strength, he returned home, his ultimate reward after a life well-lived.

In his short 34 years, Dionte accomplished more than many do in a lifetime. Dionte was a goal-chaser. He knew the life he wanted to live, and he set a plan in motion to achieve his goals. A devoted student, Dionte completed an associate degree in business from Albany State University and earned two bachelor's degrees in accounting and economics from Georgia State University. Upon graduating, Dionte began his career as an accountant, following in the footsteps of his maternal grandfather and his aunt. Dionte also mastered subjects not taught in school like love, perseverance, and compassion. Dionte was not only a devoted student of formal education, but of life itself. He approached every experience as a lesson, every challenge as a course, and every opportunity as a chance to grow.

While he loved to socialize, Dionte knew when it was time to focus on his priorities. He worked overnight while in school and even produced music while still finding time to pursue his goals. Dionte's spiritual awareness and relationship with God kept his feet moving forward in alignment with his purpose. He may have appeared reserved to most, but to his friends Dionte was full of life, energy, and laughter. Of all the classes that Dionte completed, the class of life was the most difficult- and yet, he aced it. Dionte walked through life with purpose and excellence, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. However short, his was a life of impact, integrity, and inspiration.
Dionte is preceded by his maternal great-grandparents Richard and Josephine (Butler) Ward; maternal grandmother Mary Ward-Williams; maternal grandfather Willie Nelson; uncle Willie Ward; and great-aunt Patricia Albritten. He leaves behind his loving mother Deondrick Nelson; brother Dominique Nelson; father- figure Melvin E. Williams (USMC ret.); father Robert King, Jr. and his wife Kendra King and son Robert King III; loving great-aunt Gwendolyn Ward; great-uncle Richard Ward (Goat); aunt Tanzania Williams; aunt Karen Reese-Thomas; uncle David Graper; aunts Kay Whitaker and Jessica Martin (of Atlanta); uncle Courtney Williams Sr.; auntie Jennifer Williams; paternal grandmother Rheyshene King; great-uncle Tim Nelson; great-aunt Linda Nelson; cousins Kwan and Cameron Williams; cousin Demetrice Davenport; "little sister-cousin" Kawanda Williams; and a host of other cousins and extended family.

Now, having fulfilled every requirement and passed every test, Dionte is once again a graduate, his final and highest degree into eternity. Though our hearts are heavy, we celebrate his legacy and rejoice in knowing that he has returned to the One who created him, crowned with peace and eternal.
