Obituary

Dionysus Donté Smith, son of Linda Jane Terrell and Willie James Smith, Jr., was born in Albany, Georgia on March 23, 1992.

He received his formal education in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe Comprehensive High School in 2010. While at Monroe, he was actively involved in numerous student organizations, included the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  Dionysus was an athlete who loved all sports, but his love for football was apparent from the moment he picked up a football.  He was immensely talented and fierce on the football field and was considered one of the best "tornado" players of all times.

As a youth, Dionysus accepted Christ as his Savior and united with Victory Tabernacle Assembly of God.  His faith and love for the Lord kept him humble throughout life's journey.

Dionysus' work ethics developed early as he engaged in employment as a delivery driver for Coca-Cola and later, Frito-Lay.  His reliability, commitment, warm personality, and outstanding customer service left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike.

Fondly known as "Dee,"  Dionysus was very unique, full of life, compassionate, loving, and giving.  He was a devoted father, an extraordinary son, a caring brother, proud uncle, supportive nephew, and a "cool" cousin.  To his friends, he was a loyal companion who was mild mannered and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand.  Sharing time with family and friends was paramount in his life and brought him much joy.  His smile was gigantic, his laugh was infectious, and his phenomenal personality had the power to light up any room that he entered.  To know him was to  dearly love!  Dee was true sports enthusiast with a passion for the Georgia Bulldogs, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Los Angeles Lakers.  Whether it was college football Saturday or the NBA playoff, he could always be found ardently cheering for his team with those around him.  He will be remembered for his  kindness to all people—family, friends, and strangers.

On May 2, 2025, Dionysus transitioned from this earthly realm to eternal rest.  Though absent from us, we take comfort in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Memories of his life will forever be celebrated by his parents, Jane Linda Terrell and Willie James (Cornelia) Smith, Jr.; his children, D'Asiah Smith, Dre'Lyn Smith, and Da'Nyla Smith; siblings, Tamika Strawder, Kenya Hunter, Kimberly Clyde, and Brent Kegler; fiancé, Tonisha Wright; bonus son, Kameron Wilson; niece and nephew, Tiyana Redding and Kanyé Hunter; aunt and uncles, Cinderella Strawder, John Sweeney, Jacob Strawder, and Roy Strawder; life-long friends, Shakayla Jackson and Robert Lewis; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
