IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald James
Harris
March 11, 1959 – November 18, 2019
Donald James Harris, son of the late Richard and Louise Harris, was born in Albany, Georgia on March 11, 1959.
He attended the public schools of Dougherty County, graduating from Westover High School. While at Westover, he was active in numerous school organizations, activities, and sporting events.
He was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Aretha Mathis. They shared a love that endured through the years and a devotion to one another that grew strong with time. As a husband and father, Donald devoted much of his time and energy providing for his family. For more than 30 years, he labored untiringly at Gilmer Warehouse of Macon, Georgia. Upon his retirement, his was hailed as a loyal, hardworking employee who gave his best to ensure that no task was ever left undone.
Donald was a very high-spirited, uplifting burst of positive energy. He had a mind that never ceased questioning, a serious twinkle in his eyes, a fearless and loving spirit, and a heart that opened freely to family and friends. When life experiences became blurry, he had the unique ability to make them clearer; oftentimes turning them into unforgettable adventures and memories. Donald was one of those rare individuals who always had the interest of others at heart. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, a compassionate brother and nephew, the best uncle anyone could hope for, and a committed cousin, and a loyal friend.
On November 18, 2019, Donald departed this earthly life. A precious one from us is gone; a voice, laughter, and smile is still; a place is vacant in our hearts that can never more be filled. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Fred Campbell; uncle, Edward Wallace; and one sister--in-law, Undrae Wallace.
Donald leaves a legacy of love and golden memories that will forever be cherished by his beloved wife, Aretha Mathis Harris; six children, Alisha M. Shelley, Doneisha J. Mathis, Devorris J.
