Obituary

Donald Toomer was born in Dawson, Georgia on November 19, 1952.  He was the beloved son of the late Annie Terry and Johnny Toomer.

He received his early childhood and secondary education in the Terrell County School System.  Throughout school, "was an energetic, strong-willed young many who was always ready for adventure.  He had a serious sparkle in his eyes, a mind that never ceased questioning, and a zeal for learning and growing.

Donald had the great advantage of growing up in a lovinghome where he was taught the Word of God.  He dearly loved the Lord and remained prayerful throughout life's journey.  In 2013, he united with the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Leary, Georgia and served faithfully on the Senior Usher Board until his demise.  When standing at the door greeting the worshipers, he always had a smile on his face and the joy of the Lord in his heart.

Having acquired valuable technical and life skills while in school, Donald efficiently and effectively utilized those skills while employed at Goden Peanut Mill.  He was a hard worker who never shied away from a challenge; rather, he tackled each task with equal measure and stayed the course to ensure that no assignment was ever left undone.  Throughout his employment, he received numerous commendations for his outstanding work record.

Donald had a great love for family.  As a devoted husband, he was generous, kind, and supportive.  The 9-year marriage to Princella Thomas in 2013  was a true love story filled with care, laughter and surprises.  She was his shining star.  As a father, he was steadfast in providing the children with the tools necessary to maneuver through anything that they would face in life.  He loved his family dearly and would do anything in his power to help them.

An extremely straight-forward, unpretentious individual, Donald was also kind and generous.   He was a friend you could always count on and he never missed an opportunity to help anyone in need.  The bonds of friendship that he fostered through the years will forever be remembered and cherished.

On November 28, 2022, Donald was called home to his eternal resting place.  Although his earthly departure leaves a void, he will live on the hearts of many friends and family who loved him dearly..

He leaves fond memories that will forever be cherished by his devoted wife, Princella Toomer; stepchildren, Felicia Williams, Myra (Zoldrick) Riley, Nechandra Williams, Ashlee Thomas, Kabreka (Cecil) Brown, and Antione Williams; eight grandchildren; siblings, J. C. Rivers, Curtis Murphy, Robert Perry, Ricky Perry, Marvin Perry, Willie Daniels, Jonah Spencer, Joseph Spencer, Stevie Spencer, Cherry (Billy) Burks, Teresa (Shawn) Spencer, and Ruby Lee Rivers; brothers-in-law, Ellis Thomas Curly (Brenda) Thomas, Roosevelt Thomas, Isiah (Bernice) Thomas, Larry Thomas, and Will (Deborah) Jones; sisters-in-law, Essie Shedrick, Eloise Brown, Rosa (Walter) Henderson, Victoria (Walter) Hill, Jacqueline (James) Thomas, Chrilon (Richmond) Daniels, Fabulous (Talmadge) Robinson, and Melissa (Jonathan) Williams; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
