Donta Sherrod Wingfield, beloved son of Carla Hodge and the late Roger Wingfield, was born in Albany, Georgia on October 31, 1986. During the early years of his life, he was nurtured and cared for by his mother and loving stepfather, Samuel Thomas.

He was educated in the public schools of Dougherty County, including Dougherty Comprehensive High School.

Donta was a quiet yet stern and extremely straight-forward individual.  He had a spirit of sunshine, humor, and laughter that could be felt by everyone around him.  Family and friends meant the world to him and he cherished spending time with them, making every gathering memorable with his smile and witty sense of humor.  He laughed often, felt unbridled happiness, and loved unconditionally. Even in the midst of life's challenges, he persevered courageously with a strong will to overcome any obstacle  that was handed to him.  Donta was the kind of person that anyone would be proud to call son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, or friend.

On October 18, 2023, Donta departed this earthly life at the Willson Hospice House.  Although his departure leaves a void in the hearts of many, his wonderful life will forever be remembered.  In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his grandparents.

Cherished memories will forever remain with his mother, Carla (Brandon)) Hodge; stepfather, Samuel Thomas; siblings, Roger Jones (Jacqueline Mainer), Cedric (Elnora) Wingfield, Eric Bernard Russ, and Tamara Faison, all of Albany, GA, and a brother and sister from Michigan; nieces and nephews, Angel Wingfield, Niyah Jones, Ramone Jones, Rodriquez Jones, Cedric McKinley, and Jahmie Jones; great nephews, Cedric Holton and  Jakai Green; a very special friend, Chevelle Walker; godmother, Regina Flowers; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.
