Obituary

Dontrell Davis, son of Bobby Mumphery and Ollie Davis, was born August 9, 1980, in Albany, Georgia.  He was the oldest of five siblings.

He received his formal education in the Dougherty County and Dekalb County School Systems.  He continued his education at Albany Technical College in Electrical Systems Technology.

At a very early age, Dontrell accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.  As he journeyed through life, he was forever mindful of God's love, grace, and power.

Champ, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was a very lively, high-spirited individual who embraced life with open arms.  He had a mind that never ceased questioning and a serious twinkle in his eyes that captured the hearts of everyone around him.  A very conscientious and highly skilled young man, Dontrell gave equal importance to every task that he encountered.  He was employed at Wallace Electric for numerous years and worked diligently to ensure that he rendered the highest quality of service.

Spending time with family and friends was of utmost importance to Dontrell.  His love for his grandma Fannie who spoiled him to the core and his son Shawntavious was boundless.  Truly, they held the key to his heart!  Champ had a special way of connecting with people and becoming an active part of their lives.  His enthusiasm was contagious and his exuberance was most memorable.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

On December 1, 2024, Dontrell transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest.  Although his transition leaves a void in the hearts of family and friends, his unforgettable life will continue to linger on.  He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Mumphery; his stepfather, Rufus Loud, Sr., and three uncles, Robert Lee Rogers, James Mumphery, and Earnest Mumphery.

Cherished memories will forever remain with his son, Shawntavious Davis; his parents, Ollie Loud and Bobby (Carolyn) Mumphery; grandparents, Fannie (Eugene) Pittman and Marie Loud; siblings, Tameka Mumphery, Lakeisha Loud, Rufus Loud, Jr., and Arthur Loud; godbrother, Charles Ross; aunts and uncle, Brenda McRae, Latonya Frazier Maples, and Willie Frank (Bobbi) Mumphery; nieces and nephew, Jordyn Nixon, Samiya Sherman, and Lawrence Wright; and a host of great aunts and uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
