Obituary

Dora Bell Wallace Jackson was born January 23, 1950, in Albany, Georgia,  to the late Dave and Blossie Wallace.

She was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe High School in 1968.  Dora was a very inquisitive, considerate, and attentive young lady with a deep yearning to be of service and help others.  She was a joy to everyone around her.

Very early in life, Dora accepted Christ as her Savior and united with St. Paul Baptist Church. Through the years, she remained an humble and faithful servant—always giving God the glory and praise.

Dora Bell was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, James L. Jackson, Sr. Together, they embarked on a 56-year journey that was filled with love and true devotion to each other.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and  grandmother who dedicated her life to caring for her family. For over 25 years, she was loyal, dedicated employee at Sowega Council on  Aging.  Daily, she poured herself  into her work assisting seasoned seniors and making them feel special.

Dora had a zest for life in  everything that she did.  Her home was a safe haven for many and her doors were always open. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends—especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were a source of joy and pride in her life.  The memories she created will  last a lifetime.

On August 13, 2025, Dora Bell transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace with the Lord.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Jackson.

She is survived by her beloved husband, James L. Jackson, Sr.; her children, Bonita (James) Brown, James (Mary) Jackson, Jr., Reginald Jackson, Derrick Jackson, and Pastor Lawana (Dr. Sidney) Marlin; grandchildren, Desirae, Kiara (Tony), Johnathan, Miriam, Shakiel (Ariel), Kendall, Isaiah, Rodriguis, Rashon, Rashard, Jasmyne, Roman, Zechariah, Ronald, Jaylin, Jayden, Kisha, Shantel, James, Brianne, Jasmine, Lexington, and Caleash; 31 great grandchildren; her siblings, Helen Boone, Glenn (Lynn) Wallace, Katie (Robert) Lanier, Virginia (Sam) Hernandez, Will Wallace, Diane (Gerald) Gibson, and Sheila  Kent; in-laws, Lucy (Napoleon) ones, Earlene Hill, Lawrence (Earnestine) Green, Jerome Green, Mack (Tameka) Green, Elizabeth Green; and Nathaniel Green; aunts, Sara Green, Ernestine Johnson, Glory (Charles) McCloud, Frank (Beverly) Holley, and Johnny Holley; very special friends, Dorothy Carter and Gloria Ponder; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
