IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doretha Jones
Christian
January 1, 1917 – June 28, 2017
A Time To Be Born: Doretha Jones Christian, daughter of the late Jimmy and Roberta Price Jones, was born in Albany, Georgia on January 1, 1917.
A Time To Serve: Heeding the call of Christ at a very young age, she began her journey with the Lord at the Oakie Hill Baptist Church. As she continued her walk with the Lord, she was a faithful member and served as an Usher until her health declined. Mother Christian was a woman who feared the Lord, a woman of prayer and faith, and a woman whose life was a blessing to many people.
A Time To Love: In 1934, she was united in holy matrimony to her beloved Oscar Christian, Sr. This union endured through the years and they were blessed with a large and loving family. Together, they nurtured their children with patience, discipline, humility and love. As a wife, mother, homemaker, and domestic worker, Mother Christian was diligent in caring for the needs of her family.
A Time to Cherish: Blessed beyond measure, Mother Christian reached the hallowed age of 100. She lived to see generations of her off-springs with whom she left a legacy of love, humility, generosity, caring, and godliness. Her kind heart, selfless spirit, and compassion for all mankind will never be forgotten.
A Time To Rest: On Wednesday, June 28, 2017, Mother Christian answered the Master's call and she transitioned to her eternal home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oscar Christian, Sr.; and six children, Thedosia, Charlie, Doris, Oscar Jr., Donell, and Brenda.
A Time To Mourn
: She leaves to mourn and cherish the memories of a life well lived, four loving children, Bertha Lewis of Far Rockaway, NY, and Flossie Tinson, Carolyn (Charles) Breedlove, and Eddie Ruth Willis of Albany, Georgia; a devoted sister, Dora Walton of Albany, GA; 18 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 22 great-great grandchildren, and 16 great great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
