Doretha Brown Walton was born on August 3, 1951, in Worth County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Louis Walls, Sr. and Ardessa Floyd.
During the early years of her life, she attended the public schools of Dougherty County and participated in various school activities.
As a youth, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with the New Provisor Baptist Church where she served faithfully. She dearly loved the Lord and her church family.
Doretha was a loving and caring mother who looked well to the ways of her household. As a homemaker, she diligently cared for the needs of her family. She was blessed not only with children, but grandchildren who were a source of joy and pride in her life. The family shared many precious moments together and truly enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.
Devoted mother, loving grandmother, caring sister, nurturing aunt, reliable cousin, and compassionate friend, Doretha was a good natured and generous lady with a big heart, and a pleasure to be around. She was a very loving and genuine person who greeted each day with a smile. The strong bonds of friendship that she developed through the years will forever be cherished and remembered.
On Thursday, June 22, 2017, Doretha's earthly journey ended when she answered the Master's call to come home. In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by two siblings, Velma Floyd and Joseph Floyd; a niece and nephew, Sada Shiloh and Donald Stroble; one great nephew, Montrel Goines; and her best friend, Mary Frances Gervin-Cuff.
She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her fond memories, three loving children, Eva (Doug Hohnke) Brown of Traverse City, MI, Dr. Ronnie (Emma) Brown of Orange Park, FL, and Justin Bell of Albany, GA; three grandchildren, Anthony West of Flagstaff, AZ, and Kiera Brown and Evan Brown of Orange Park, FL; five sisters, Ruby (Jimmy) Peterson, Louise (Eddie) Shiloh, Delores (Billy Stroble, Jr.) Payton, Teresa Floyd all of Albany, GA, and Sparkle Walls of Ypsilanti, MI; eight brothers, Louis (Shirley) Brown, Sr. Sammy Brown, Michael (Christine) Floyd, Jimmy Floyd, Tony Floyd, Willie Stephens, all of Albany, GA, Louis (April) Walls, Jr. of Ypsilanti, MI and Lonnie (Jeanette) Wallace of Taylor, MI; one aunt, Hazel Fowler of Albany, GA; three special nieces, Camiella Payton of Duluth, GA, Alexus Stroble and Janice Brown of Albany, GA; special friends, Dr. Bill and Eloise Edge, Richard Dyson, Lester Bell, and Johnny Cuff all of Albany, GA; her stepmother, Jewel Walls of Detroit, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
