Obituary

Dorothy Daniels was born in Newton, Georgia on August 1, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Enanna Davis and Eunice Walker.

She attended the public schools of Baker County, including East Baker High School where she participated in track and field, and softball. Her love of sports continued throughout her life.

At a very early age, Dorothy accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She united with the Macedonia Baptist Church and was a faithful member for many years.

Dorothy was united in holy matrimony to Elijah Daniels, Jr. Their union was blessed with loving children who were nurtured with love, kindness, and care. As a wife and mother, she diligently provided for her family through her employment as a laundry technician at Village Cleaners. She retired after rendering many years of dedicated service. After retirement, Dorothy continued working in a part-time capacity with the Dougherty County School System and the Albany Civic Center. No matter what the task, she took great pride in her work.

Always gentle, kind, and personable, Dorothy had a servant's heart and felt most comfortable when helping others. She had a deep love for children which stirred her to become a licensed foster parent. Over the years, she opened her heart and her home to countless children with whom she shared many special moments and truly made a difference in their lives. For Dorothy, foster parenting was a wonderfully blessed journey that allowed her to love more and to give more.
She was a selfless person who saw the beauty in all things, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and participating in activities at the Sowega Council on Aging.

On October 31, 2018, Dorothy answered the Master's call to eternal rest. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Daniels, Jr.; and one brother, Robert Walker.

She leaves fond memories to be cherished by her loving children, Bobby (Malinda) Daniels and Eugene Daniels (USMC) both of St. Petersburg, FL, Shirley Daniels Railey, Edward (Joy) Daniels, James (Tisha) Daniels, and Keisha Johnson (foster daughter) all of Albany, GA; siblings, Evelyn Johnson Solomon and Roger Lee Johnson of Albany, GA; fourteen grandchildren; aunts, Mattie Lunsford, Lou Jackson, and Carrie Davis; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
