Obituary

Dorothy Johnson was born in Albany, Georgia on September 8, 1948.  She was the  beloved daughter of the late Daryl Johnson and Lucille Brown.

She was educated in the Dougherty County School System.  Throughout school, She was a very inquisitive student who garnered much from her educational experiences.

Dorothy was raised in a loving home and was taught to love the Lord early in life.  She was a dedicated member of New Jerusalem Pentecostal Church of God in Christ where she served faithfully for many years in numerous capacities.  Dorothy was praying woman who was strong in faith and didn't mind  telling of God's goodness wherever she went.  Oftentimes in her daily walk, she could be heard sharing her favorite saying, "God has all power in his hands."

Domestic at heart, Dorothy was unwavering in her dedication to foster a Christian home filled with love, joy, and strong values.  She was a devoted mother who supported her children in their endeavors and offered much time and attention to their lives.  Whether needing advice, a listening ear, or casual conversation, they knew that she was always available to hear them out.

A beautiful sweet-spirited individual, Dorothy was beautiful from the inside out and had a genuine concern and calling to serve others.  The words penned by the songwriter, "If I can help somebody as I travel along…..then my living shall not be in vain" truly exemplifies her life.  To the hungry, she offered food; to the sick, she offered compassion; to the broken hearted, she offered consolation, and to the lost, she offered hope and guidance. In her leisure, she enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends.

On January 20, 2023, Dorothy transitioned from this earthly journey to be with the Lord.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothrs, Marion Brown, Freddie Lee Brown, Larry Johnson, and Billy Johnson.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by her children, Bobby Wallace Johnson, Debora (Stephen) Nix, and Teresa Johnson of Albany, GA; siblings, Jewel (Cleveland) Lockman, Helen (Jack) Hill,  Linda (David) Monroe, and James Brown; grandchildren, Stephen Nix, Jr. and Dr. Lakeyshia King; and a myriad of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
