Douglas McCray Sr., son of the late Joshua and Mary McCray was born November 14, 1927 in Camilla, GA.

He received his primary and secondary education in the Dougherty County School System. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corp. After serving his country, he returned to Albany and began his life-long career with the Marine Logistic base. He was blessed with a strong work ethic and established himself as a conscientious, persistent, punctual, loyal and dedicated employee and retired after 40 years of dedicated service.

Douglas took great pleasure in working with his hands, being skilled in painting, carpentry and plumbing and was an avid reader. Douglas was gentle, humble, quiet spoken, loving, kind and generous.

He was a member of Bright Morning Star Baptist Church in Sylvester, GA where he was Chairman of the Deacon Board. He enjoyed singing and he was a member of a gospel quartet earlier in his life. One of his favorite songs was "Walk Around Heaven" by the Mighty Clouds of Joy.

Douglas was united in holy matrimony to beloved soulmate Anna Mae Polite in July 2000. Their union was unshakeable and endured for 23 years. His love for his wife was unmatched-she was the sparkle in his life. He was a hard-working husband and father who was dedicated to his family and committed to God.

On Sunday March 5, 2023, Douglas departed this life and entered into eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Joshua McCray and his brother Willie McCray.

Loving memories cherished by his wife Anna Frazier McCray, his children; Douglas McCray Jr., Lula (Lucious) Jester, Joyce Anderson, Carlisa Terrell, Kennedy (Latrailya) Lewis, Alfonya McCray, Jaustine McCray step children Zenja Evans, Jarrett Frazier and Rickie Frazier. He also leaves twenty three grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren, one sister-inlaw Rosie McCray and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
