Obituary

Earl Brown, the son of the late Mary Jane Cole and Tom Brown, was born on April 25, 1925, in Newton, Georgia. He attended the public schools of Baker County.

Having professed his faith and belief in Christ during the early years of his life, he was baptized and received the "right hand of fellowship" into the body of the Bethesda (Sheppard) Baptist Church.

He was united in holy matrimony to Mattie Mae Simmons, his friend and confidant, who preceded him in death. On November 14, 1971, he married Anne Allen. This union endured through the years and stood the test of time. Earl was a persistent, hardworking man who diligently cared for the needs of his family. For many years, he was employed at Lilliston's of Albany where he labored untiringly and took great pride in his work.

Earl was a husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and loyal friend who lived a long and fulfilling life. He was a strong man who stood firmly on his word, a man who was steadfast in his beliefs, and a man with a very big heart who loved his family dearly. Oftentimes, he was found enjoying the outdoors and early mornings. Earl enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening and spent many hours basking in these pastimes.

On Monday, July 3, 2017, he departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Brown and Earl Brown, Jr.

His love and memories will forever be cherished by his devoted wife, Ann Allen Brown; loving children, Catherine (Clifford) Williams of Albany, GA, David Brown of Miami, FL, Mary Hankins, Emmarine Byerson, and Annie Brown of Atlanta, GA, Josie Brown of Indianapolis, IN, Lorine (Carl) Kincade of Miami, FL, and Vicki (Albert) Blanch, Cynthia Allen, Barry Allen, Glynn (Trom)) Allen, and Zenobia Allen all of Albany, GA; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; a special family friend and caregiver, Barbara Parrish; and a host of cousins, extended family and friends.

I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright
and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
