Obituary

Easter May Collins Snowden was born March 13, 1959, in Sylvester, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late George and Esther White Collins.

During the early years of her life, she was educated in the Worth County School System. After relocating to Brooklyn, New York with her family, she graduated from Sarah J. Hale High School.

Easter was raised in a loving home and was taught to love the Lord early in life. In later years, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior; believed strongly in the power of fasting and praying; and remained steadfast throughout life's journey.

After meeting the love of her life, Ulysses Snowden, they were united in marriage on March 13, 1975, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They shared a love that endured through the years and a devotion to one another that grew strong with time. Together, they had wonderful adventures and enjoyed great trips—driving across country and even traveling to Israel. But above all, they enjoyed being with each other. Easter was a wonderful wife who ate not the bread of idleness. Her love and care for children led her to a career as a bus matron, which proved to be one of the most meaningful experiences during her lifetime.

Easter was a very kind, good natured, generous lady who was a joy to be around. She was a selfless person with a strong sense of duty and responsibility. While a member of the Order of Eastern Stars—Prince Hall Grand Lodge, she was considered by many as a strong but humble person, a wise and trusted counsel, and a difference maker. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

On April 14, 2020, Easter was called home to be with the Lord. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ulysses Snowden; her twin sister, Esther Collins; two brothers, Jerry D. Collins and Willie J. Collins; and two sisters-in-law, Rebecca Collins and Nettie Collins.

Loving memories will be forever cherished by her siblings, Annie Mae (Willie James) Jackson, Rose Lee Hamilton, Bernice Collins, James (Geraldine) Collins, and Herman Collins; sisters-in-law, Lendia Collins-Young and Lisa Jackson; brother-in-law, Larry Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
