Obituary

Deacon Eddie Will Banks, beloved son of the late Willie Mae Banks and Tim Lewis was born in Leesburg, GA on May 8, 1950, then affectionately adopted by the late George and Ethel Mae Banks.

He received his early childhood and secondary education in the public schools of Dougherty County including Monroe Tech, graduating from
Monroe High school in 1970. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served valiantly until 1974 with an honorable discharge.

Eddie was a very conscientious individual who was no stranger to hard work. He was employed with Albany Water, Gas & Light as a meter reader. He became the first black energy control operator, after which he later retired.

Eddie was united in holy matrimony to his beloved soulmate Joanne Patricia Nash in 1974. Their union was unshakeable and endured for 48 years. Through this union three amazing sons were born, Kenya Banks, Eric Banks and Milo Banks.

He joined the New Saint Stephens Baptist Church where he became a faithful deacon. He was also a member of the J. C. Blue male chorus and mass chorus. He dearly loved the Lord and his church family.

On Wednesday, December 28, 2022, Eddie "Snail" Banks answered the Master's call to eternal peace and rest. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Eric Banks, two siblings; Benjamin Banks and Jenny Boone.
