Eddie Lee Mitchell, Sr., beloved son of the late Raleigh and Elizabeth Turner Mitchell, was born in Mitchell County, Georgia April 20, 1951.

He received his formal education in the Mitchell County School System, graduating in the class of 1970.  He continued his education at Albany Technical College where he earned an Associate degree.

Having accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, Eddie united with the St. Mary Baptist Church under the guidance and leadership of Pastor A. Hopkins, III.  He was a faithful servant of the Lord and willingly served  wherever needed.

Eddie was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sara Reed.  Their union endured for 32 years as they honored their vows to love and cherish each other.  As a devoted husband and father, Eddie was diligent in caring for the needs of his family through his employment with Cagles (Keystone) for more than 25 years.

"Manny," as he was affectionately called, loved his family; treasured his friends; and was always "on call" to help anyone in need.  He had a big heart for all things in life.  Eddie was a loving brother, a caring uncle, a cherished cousin, and a loyal friend who touched the lives of people around him in a very special way.  He will be dearly missed.

On Wednesday, September 23, 2020, Eddie peacefully transitioned to eternal rest.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Vanessa Mitchell and Eddie Lee Mitchell, Jr.; and five sisters, Lillie M. Randall, Elizabeth M. Sutton, Claretha M. Gilbert, Annie M. Lamons, and Mollie J. Mitchell.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by his devoted wife, Sara Reed Mitchell of Baconton, GA; his children, Margaret (Alphonso) Globe of Albany, GA, Kimberly Mitchell, Eddie Lee Mitchell, Jr., and Johnny (James) Parker all of Baconton, GA, and Mariea (Anthony) Hicks of Donalsonville, GA; three siblings, James Mitchell and Vera M. Hurst of Baconton, GA, and Willie (Joanne) Mitchell, Sr. of Newton, GA; mother-in-law, Orplee L. Reed of Pelham, GA; sister-in-law, Carolyn R. Burden of Pelham, GA; brothers-in-law, Lee Henry (Leellen) Lamons of Miami, FL, M. C. Reed, Jr. and Willie B. Reed of Pelham, GA, and Rufus Reed of Thomasville, GA; aunt, Carolyn Turner of Albany, GA; two very special nieces, Valarie Mitchell and Lastacy Calhoun;  ten grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
