IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edgar Roberts,
Jr.
April 1, 1939 – March 23, 2019
Edgar Roberts, Jr. was born in Damascus, Georgia on April 1, 1939. He was the son of the late Edgar Roberts, Sr. and. Willie Mae Thompson Rosebure.
He received his formal education in the Early County Public School System.
During the early years of his life, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with the St. James Methodist Church of Damascus, Georgia.
In 1958, Edgar relocated to Newark, New Jersey he met the love of his life, Carolyn J. Ellington. They were united in holy matrimony on October 24, 1959, and shared a love that endured for 59 years. Their union was blessed with a loving family that was nurtured with patience, discipline, humility, and love. As a husband and father, Edgar devoted much of his time and energy providing for his family. For more than 30 years, he was a loyal and dedicated employee of General Motors in Linden, NJ; rarely took vacation time from the job; and worked diligently to ensure that no task was left undone. After retiring from a very rewarding career, he moved to Albany, GA where he remained until his demise.
Edgar was a completely selfless person who was always willing to help others, who was a source of encouragement and joy to everyone he met, and who touched many hearts and lives in very special ways. Being surrounded by family and friends filled his heart, and he cherished every moment that he spent with them. The distance that he would go for his family was also the distance that he would go for a friend or stranger.
On March 23, 2019, Edgar answered the call to eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Alonzo Roberts.
Loving memories will be forever treasured by his devoted wife, Carolyn J. Roberts; children, Aykie L. Shabazz (Johanna), Reginald Roberts, and Ernestine Robins (Robert); brother, Wendlyn Roberts; grandchildren, Dacia, Todd, Yasmin, Aykie II, Nia, Alexandrea, and Karlisha; great grandchildren, Jordan, Kendrick, Hunter, Micyiah, and Kingston; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; very special friends with whom he shared a deep bond and inseparable spirit, Wilyn, Guy, Christopher, and Monique; and a host of devoted friends.
