IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward Miller,
Jr.
December 19, 1947 – July 28, 2019
Edward Miller Jr. was born on December 19, 1947 in Lumpkin, GA to the late Edward and Vinnie Miller Sr., as their only son. He departed this life on July 28, 2019 at Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah, GA.
Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Edward accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age. During adulthood he joined the Cray Chapel CME church in Albany, GA where he served on the Steward Board and Trustee Board for many years. In addition, he also sang in the male choir. He would later join Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Albany, GA under the pastoral leadership of Dr. Daniel Simmons where he was a faithful member.
Edward was a proud 1966 graduate of Stewart County High School, Lumpkin, GA. He then attended Albany State University, Albany, GA and later graduated from Meadows College of Business with a degree in Accounting. He was employed at Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. for 17 years until closing. He would later join Procter & Gamble Paper Products where he was employed for 25 years until he retired.
A heroic Vietnam War Veteran, Edward served in the US Army where he earned two Bronze Service Star Medals which are awarded for a servant's heroic achievement, heroic service, praiseworthy achievement, or praiseworthy service in a combat zone. Moreover, he also earned an Aircraft Crewman's Badge for his work with the UH-1 (Huey) helicopter and was an expert Rifleman. He would later serve 13 years in the Army National Guard until his health no longer allowed.
On November 23, 1974, Edward married the love of his life Marva Hayes Miller. Sharing their eternal love for one another for over 44 years, they loved to travel, cook, attend church services, and raise their two wonderful children (Trey and Marcus).
Edward was truly one in a million! He had a big heart which he shared with those all around him. He gave more of himself than many would ever know, never asking for anything in return. His kind heart and words of wisdom will be sorely missed.
In his spare time, he loved fishing, hunting, playing on the computer in his "Dungeon," following the Albany State University Golden Rams football team and the Atlanta Falcons.
Left to cherish his precious memories are a loving and dedicated wife Mrs. Marva H. Miller; two loving sons: Edward "Trey" Miller III (Dawn), Nashville, TN and Marcus Andre Miller, Decatur, GA; two adored precious granddaughters: Courtney McKenzie Miller and Leah Noelle Miller; his "Brother" Laster Walker, special god sister, Valerie Jackson and godbrother Willie J.
