Effice Mitchell, Jr., son of the late Effice Mitchell, Sr. and Betty Jean Carter Mitchell, was born in Hartford, Connecticut.

Growing up in Detroit, Michigan, he received his early childhood and secondary education in the Detroit Public School System. He continued his education at Henry Ford Community College.

Very early in life, Effice's mother taught him the value of good work ethics, living a life of integrity, and to give his very best in all that he did. Ever mindful of his mother's teaching as he prepared to enter the workforce, Effice completed the requirements to earn his Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and became an inter/intra-state truck driver. Over the years, he took great pride in his driving skills and always put safety first. He was a loyal, dedicated employee who stayed the course to get the job done in a timely and efficiently.

Often described as a selfless man with a gigantic heart, Effice had a special way of getting to know people and becoming a part of their
lives. He loved his family with overwhelming affection and protection—especially his sister Sandra, and he had an exceptionally close bond with his beloved mother. The strong bonds of friendship that he developed throughout his life will forever be cherished and remembered. In his leisure, Effice enjoyed motorcycle riding and weekend travel excursions.

On May 4, 2023, Effice tragically faced the sunset of his trucking journey on I-96 in Corydon, Indiana. Although his sudden departure leaves a void, he will always be in our hearts.

Effice leaves fond memories that will forever be cherished by his daughter, Jacqueline Effie Mitchell; three siblings, Sandra Filmore of Texas, and Freddie Mitchell and Andrea Mitchell both of Michigan; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
