Obituary

Elaine King, beloved daughter of the late Roy George and Dorothy Lee King McFarland, was born in Blakely, Georgia on December 25, 1953.  Throughout the early years of her life, she was nurtured and cared for by her mother and loving stepfather, Lucious McFarland.

She received her early childhood and secondary education in the public schools of Dougherty County, including Monroe Comprehensive High School. While at Monroe, she was an exceptional athlete who pushed herself daily to perfect her skills in basketball, track, and her true passion—softball.  She was immensely talented and became one of the best "tornado" softball players of all times.

At a young age, she confessed her belief in Christ and united with Christ Missionary Baptist Church of Bluffton, Georgia.  In 2016, Elaine rededicated her life to Christ and joined Abba's House of Prayer and Training Ministries.  From that time forward, she committed herself to unmovable and steadfast service in the Homeless Ministry and as a Sunday School teacher.  Her greatest desire was that none would be lost and all would develop a real relationship with the Lord.  She was like Paul; she loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, and mind.

Elaine was a very persistent individual whose professional work life was diverse and most rewarding.  Her culinary and hospitality skills were exceptional and she worked tirelessly over the years to provide outstanding customer service.

Affectionately called "Mama Lane" by many, Elaine was a loving daughter; a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother; a caring sister and aunt; a cherished cousin; and a loyal friend.  She had a big heart and was a pleasure to be around.  Elaine believed deeply in unconditional love, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and delighted in helping others—never asking anything in return.  Like a bright star, she had a gigantic smile that could light up a room and bring joy to everyone around her.  The strong bonds of friendship that she developed through the years and her kind spirit will forever be remembered.

On February 8, 2021, Elaine transitioned from this earthly life at the Willson Hospice House to everlasting peace with the Lord.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Wontrese Michelle King Stephens; and her son-in-law, Antonio Stephens.

Fond memories will forever remain in the hearts of her children, Subrina Laverne King, LeShunda Rena King, Latasha (Previs) Collins, Kamyria Shonta King, and Michael Ervin King all of Albany, GA; two brothers, Theron (Mattie) King of Albany, GA and Ernest (Elaine) King of Atlanta , GA; sixteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
