IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elder Jackie
Childs, Jr.
June 29, 1970 – March 29, 2023
Elder Jackie Childs, Jr. was born in Camilla, Georgia on June 29, 1970, to Mary Childs and the late Jackie Childs, Sr.
He received his early childhood and secondary education in the Mitchell County School System, graduating from Mitchell-Baker High School in 1988. A very perceptive and astute student who valued higher education, he matriculated at Albany State University where he was awarded the Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with a minor in Information Systems.
Jackie's journey with the Lord began very early in life. He was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church in Camilla, Georgia where he served faithfully for many years. As he continued his journey in Christ, he united with Greater Faith and Deliverance Church of Albany, Georgia where he was ordained as an Elder under the leadership and guidance of Pastor Vincent Charles and Bishop McArthur Rouse. Elder Childs was a true man of God who was best described as a people person, an encourager, a mentor and teacher, a trusted advisor, and a faithful servant whose love and devotion to Jesus spilled over into the lives of countless people.
Having been totally captivated by the love of his life and soul-mate, Elder Childs was united in holy matrimony to Youdongula Campbell—a union that spanned a period of 23 years. He was a devoted husband and father who dearly loved, protected, and provided for his family unconditionally through his employment with the Dougherty County School System as an IT Specialist. Throughout his employment, he was the "go-to guy" that everyone relied upon for their technology needs.
His career was defined by hard work, high expectations, unquestionable integrity, and he always looked for optimal solutions to complex problems.
Well loved and highly respected by those who knew him, Elder Childs had a special way of getting to know people and becoming a part of their lives. He was a down-to-earth, humble man who was a source of encouragement to everyone he met. His friendliness and kindness to all people, his willingness to lend a helping hand, his love for his community, and his devotion to his church, family, and friends are lasting tributes to the beauty of his heart and soul. His loss will be felt keenly and his footprint has been left deep in our hearts.
Elder Childs was called from earthly labor to heavenly reward on March 29, 2023. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ayanna Childs-Webster; and his nephew, Calvin Darnell Williams.
