Obituary

Elder Steven O'Neal Thomas was born in Albany, Georgia on June 4, 1972.  He was the beloved son of Lillie Ann Thomas Covin and the late Horace Ball.

He was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Dougherty High School in 1993.  Throughout school, he was a very inquisitive, compassionate young man with a yearning desire to be of service to others.

Very early in life, Elder Thomas was taught the Word of God and the importance of living a life of integrity and loving kindness.  As a youth, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and began a lifetime of Christian stewardship.  As he grew and was armed with a deep understanding of the Word and a passion for guiding others, God entrusted him to establish ShuggarBear Land On-line Ministries where he poured out his knowledge, in-depth biblical teaching, and faith in the Lord to countless individuals.  He was a man of true passion for everyone around him and he remained steadfast and committed to his calling until his demise.

A genuinely good-hearted and humble man, Elder Thomas was a loving son, supportive brother, caring nephew, devoted cousin, and cherished friend who touched the lives of people in a very special way.  He trusted God completely and listened daily for His instructions.  Elder Thomas was selfless, lived to pleased God, and allowed God to order his steps.  Having the privilege of being a part of his life was to know that you were dearly loved.  His life was a testament to the power of faith and the strength of the human spirit.

On January 22, 2025, God called his servant home.  Although his parting leaves a void in the hearts of many, we rejoice in Philippians 1:21, "For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."

Cherished memories will forever remain with his loving mother and stepfather, Lillie Ann and James A. Covin; his siblings, Debra Harver, Cartina (Demon) Gainer, Courtney Ball, Sharena Seay, and DeWayne Ball; special aunts, Theola Mack, Susie Hicks, Arlene Moore, Irene Timpson, and Cheryl (Troy) Timpson; two devoted cousins, Evelyn Timpson and Laura (Greg) Thorne; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
