IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ellison Monroe
Williamson, Jr.
November 11, 1949 – June 6, 2024
It is with sadness that the family of Ellison Monroe (Sonny) Williamson, Jr, shares that he lost a long, hard-fought battle with cancer on June 6, 2024 at the age of 74.
Sonny, born November 11, 1949, was the son of EM Williamson, Sr and Dorothy Wood Cannon Williamson.
Sonny graduated from Albany High School in 1967 after serving as the "Albany High Indian Chief" at home football games for 3 years. He
attended Gordon Military College, Albany Junior College and Georgia Southwestern College before serving 6 years (4 active) in the United States Navy following in the footsteps of his father. He worked at Lilliston Corporation before striking out as an entrepreneur. He operated a landscape business with Kathy Devaul and built many beautiful iron fences and gates in the Dougherty County area.
Sonny was a member of First United Methodist Church in Albany, an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, loved to cook and was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and working with his dogs (hounds, bird dogs and retrievers). Being a horse lover, Sonny was also involved and past
president of the Forever Southwest Georgia Saddle Club.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents and son, Robert Ellison (Robbie) Williamson.
Sonny is survived by his daughter, Jane Elizabeth (Beth) Laird (Scott) and two grandchildren, Lyndsey and Anna, his sisters, Patricia Butler (Claude) of Quitman, Ga and Jane O'Gorman, Dahlonega, many nieces and nephews and special friend, Kathy.
Sonny requested no memorial service therefore in lieu of flowers he asked that you send donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
