IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elois Virginia
Davis
May 9, 1955 – June 17, 2021
The sun rose on the life of Elois Virginia Davis on May 9, 1955, in Albany, Ga. She was the daughter of Cleo Davis and Bessie Mae Fields who both preceded her in death. As she grew in the company of her sisters and brother, she eventually graced the halls of The Ponderosa, Monroe High School , graduating in 1973. The memories that she created there would forever be ingrained in her heart, she was a dedicated alum throughout the rest of her life….always anticipating fellowshipping and congregating with her classmates. She also loved the Lord, she gave her life to Christ and served faithfully at Palmyra Baptist Church until she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia.
The highlight of Elois's life came with the birth of her dear daughter Melanie. While building a career at Albany State University in Public Safety that would span over 25 years, she simultaneously devoted immeasurable time and energy into rearing Melanie. She became a staple amongst the student body and was highly regarded throughout Melanie's attendance at Monroe High School. This ultimately re-sulted in her becoming a second mother figure to countless others. This was also the case among the many students that Elois encountered during her time at Albany State University. Mothering was truly her calling! Upon her retirement from Albany State in 2005, she completed her training to be a Certified Nursing Assistant, answering yet another call of service to others without hesitation. Those skills proved vital when she took on the role of a surrogate grandmother to many that she encountered upon her move to Atlanta. This resulted in her ultimately operating an in-home day-care and even provided home care for the elderly. This served as a stepping stone to her crown accomplishment, which was becoming a grandmother to Melanie's one and only son, Zion. Elois would continue to serve in her calling until the sun set on her life on June 17, 2021.
Elois leaves behind one daughter, Melanie Davis and an endeared grandson Zion Dunbar. Three sisters, Mary Carolyn McNeal, Vivian Mallory, and Deborah Johnson. She was preceded in death by two sisters Blanche Davis, Bernice McFarland, and one brother, Bobby Davis. She also leaves two surrogate daughters, Teaera Raines and Tarsha Crews. She cherished friendship to the core, she leaves her best friends to carry on her legacy: Sherita Holmes, Teronice Harris, and Florenda Campbell. She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends that will all miss her mortal presence here on Earth.
