Obituary

Eloise Williams-Walker was born in Iron City, Georgia on July 29, 1943.  She was the loving daughter of the late Johnny B. Williams and Bessie Lee Sheffield.

She received her early childhood and secondary education in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe High School in 1962.  She later continued her education at Albany State College.

Her spiritual journey began in 1953 when she confessed Christ, was baptized, and became a member of Friendship Baptist Church under the pastorage of Reverend S. Moultrie.  For 42 years, she proudly stood at her post  greeting and ushering the congregation into the worship service before moving to Atlanta, Georgia.  Eloise loved her ministry and firmly believed that because the Lord called her to duty—to serve was truly an honor.

Eloise and Freddie Walker became one through holy matrimony.  Together, they worked to provide a loving and supportive Christian home for their children.  She was a devoted wife and mother who ate not the bread of idleness and diligently cared for the needs of her family.  Through the years, Eloise worked untiringly at Coats and Clark of Albany and was hailed as a committed and reliable employee by co-workers and supervisors.  In the midst of declining health, she retired having rendered 24 years of loyal service.

Family and friends were her among her greatest cherished gifts and she dearly treasured the time spent with them.  Eloise was a trusted friend and confidant, would lend a listening ear to those in need of compassion and support, and always stood ready to help others—never asking anything in return.  Her endearing spirit will be sorely missed by all whose lives she touched with her generosity and motherly understanding.

On November 25, 2022, Eloise peacefully transitioned to eternal rest and peace with the Lord.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Freddie Walker.

Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of her children, Eddie (Cynthia) Fuller of Hampton, GA, Anthony (Annie) Walker of Albany, GA, Phyllis Williams of Union City, GA, and Felicia Morris of Hampton, GA; four siblings, Joe (Allie) Dupree of Donaldsonville, GA, Floyd Anthony (Gloria) Williams of Dallas, TX, Calvin Payton of North Carolina, and Alberta Martin of Albany, GA; a special cousin/sister, Gloria Anderson of Albany, GA; sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
