IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Emma
Hallmon
January 16, 1960 – April 19, 2019
The journey of life for Emma "Bug" Hallmon began on January 16, 1960, in Damascus, Georgia. She was the beloved daughter of the late Russell Lee and Emma Lee Hallmon.
She received her primary and secondary education in the public schools of Early County, graduating in the class of 1978. Throughout her school years, she was active in numerous school organizations and activities.
From a very young age, Bug was nurtured in the Word of God. As a youth, she heeded the call of Christ; was baptized; and received the "right hand of fellowship" into the body of Christ at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Damascus, Georgia. Through the years, she was a faithful, dedicated member who served unwaveringly on the Pastor's Aide Committee, the Church Program Committee, and the Kitchen Committee. Hailing from a family that was blessed with the gift of song, Emma utilized her God-given talent for 44 years in the Young Adult Choir to minister in song. She was a vessel who was deeply rooted and grounded in the Lord; who loved her church family immensely, and who stayed on the battlefield until her untimely departure.
Often described as a very conscientious, hardworking individual, Emma gave her best at whatever she did. She had a servant's heart and felt most comfortable when helping others. For more than 19 years, she labored untiringly at the Miller County Hospital in Colquitt, Georgia. Not only did she take pride in her work, but she truly relished the friends that she made during her employment. She was a selfless person who saw the beauty in all things and accepted everyone for who they were.
Emma had a deep sense of family loyalty, ties, and responsibilities and was steadfast in her dedication to foster a Christian home filled with love, joy, and strong values. She had an endless reservoir of love for her family and friends—especially her precious daughter Candis, and her devoted sister Jean.
On Friday, April 19, 2019, God, in His infinite wisdom, saw fit to bring Bug's journey to a close at the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital; and transitioned her from our midst. She was predeceased by her parents and one sister, Elizabeth Jean Hallmon.
She leaves a legacy of love and fond memories to be cherished by her loving loving daughter, Minister Candis Hayes; caring sister, Betty Hallmon Roberts; brothers, Deacon Calvin Hallmon, Larry (Bernice) Hallmon, Sylvester (Aretha) Hallmon, and Deacon Russell Lee Hallmon, Jr.; four cousin-brothers, Pastor Earl Hallmon, Reverend Michael Hallmon, Tracy Hallmon, and Tyrone Hallmon; an aunt who was like a mother, Mollie Hallmon; a nephew that she raised as her own, Jason Roberts, Sr., and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, and numerous godchildren.
