Emma Dean Jackson, daughter of Freddie M. Stephens and the late Willie Frank Tooms, was born in Terrell County, Georgia on September 9, 1955.
She was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Dougherty Comprehensive High School in 1973.
At a very early age, Emma heeded the call of Christ and began her journey with the Lord at the Mt. Early Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership and guidance of Reverend M. C. Jenkins.
Throughout her life, Emma held fast to her belief that work is honorable. She was employed by the Dougherty County School System where she labored tirelessly until her retirement in 2005.
Family and friends were Emma's greatest cherished gifts.
