IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Emma Ruth
Jones
July 31, 1947 – February 10, 2025
Emma Ruth Green Jones, affectionately named by her father, "BabyRuth", was born on July 31, 1947. She was the ninth child born to the
late Mr. Johnny & Mrs. Leila Mae Lane Green. Emma was born and raised in Terrell County Georgia and was educated in the Terrell
County School System. Later in life she furthered her education at Albany Technical College, becoming a nurturer to many. Although
she was a seamstress, a caregiver, and a cook – just to name a few – her greatest job and deepest passion was to take care of her
family. She loved and cared for her children, grandchildren, great great grandchildren wholeheartly.
Her kindness extended beyond family – her nieces, nephews, and cousins all felt her warmth. I would say "friends" but to Momma, everyone was family. She was a mother to all who knew her, embracing everyone with kindness, warmth, and an open heart. She enjoyed walking through this life not only for exercise but with grace, finding peace in every step and beauty in the world around her. Whether shaping clay, tending her garden, or using her crafting skills to refurbish new life into things old and forgotten, she saw God's handiwork in all things. Her spirit was gentle yet strong, her love boundless, and her presence a comforting light. She moved through this world with quiet wisdom, leaving behind a legacy of love, renewal, and grace that will never fade.
Emma accepted Christ at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church, Parrot, GA. Upon moving to Albany, she joined Shiloh Baptist Church, Pecan City before she became a dutiful lifelong member of Gethsemane Worship Center, Albany, Georgia. Emma was on the mother's board, served on the culinary committee and was an inspiration to many. Her most cherished passion was caregiving, studying, and spreading God's word.
After the death of her mother, Emma became the glue that kept the family together. She opened her home which became the "gathering place", where love, laughter, and family came together. She was a natural caregiver, selflessly tending to those who needed her the most. Through her strength, compassion, and unwavering love, she kept our family connected, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and devotion.
On December 31, 1965, Emma and Raymond were married in Albany, GA. They spent nearly 60 years together, raising four successful children.
On Monday, February 10, 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia, God in His infinite wisdom, saw fit to call his faithful servant Home. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Jewel Bell Green Barron, Lola Myers, and Lillie Mae Kelly, and her brothers, Jim Allen
Green, Robert Green, Oliver Green, Aldophus Green, and Johnny Green Jr.
Emma leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted husband, Raymond H. Jones, four children, Felicia (Bishop Frederick) Williams, Veronis (Eric) Williams, Raymond (Shariff) Jones Jr., Cornelius (Joycelyn) Jones, three sisters, Pecola Clay (Albany, GA), Mattie Walton (Albany, GA), Rachel Richard (Albany, GA), and one brother WC Green (Albany, GA), fifteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, amd a wealth of nieces, nephews, cousins, along with countless church members, am friends who were blessed to know her.
