Obituary

Emmarine Davis Jackson was born in Albany, Georgia on January 4, 1952, to Katie Ellis and Charlie Davis.  Emma, as she was affectionately known, was the youngest of four children born to this union.  Emma was raised by her great aunt, Lottie McCan (Momma), who loved her unconditionally.  This love set the foundation for the love Emma had for her family and friends.  1 Corinthians 13:13 " And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.  But the greatest of these is love."

Growing up in Albany, Emma was educated in the Dougherty County School System. She was a 1970 graduate of Monroe Comprehensive High School.

Emma met the love of her life, Robert Rowe, shortly after graduation and they were inseparable. They began their work as entrepreneurs when they obtained several janitorial contracts throughout the city.  Thus, their business, R & R  Enterprise, became a janitorial staple in Albany.  Emma assisted with the day-to-day functions of their business and took care of their two children as Robert continued to do most of the manual labor.

There was one thing that was more important to Emma than work and even family, and that was her relationship with God. Emma joined and was baptized at House of Hope by Pastor Brown.  Emma loved attending church, fellowshipping with her church family, spreading the gospel, and praying for those in need. Emma later joined The Vineyard Family Worship Center under the leadership of Pastor Ward.  Emma grew in her spiritual walk as she continued to worship and praise God.  Her faith in God is what kept her going.  Even as her health declined, Emma still desired to attend worship service in the House of the Lord. When she wasn't able to physically attend, Emma read her bible and listened to church because that was her source of comfort and strength. Matthew 11:28-30  "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

After separating from Robert, but remaining good friends, Emma was given another chance at love and married Ray Jackson.  Emma loved her family and friends just as they loved her.  The love that she showed and gave remains unmatched.

On the afternoon of  January 29, 2022, God looked down at Emma and said, "Well done my faithful servant" and Emma departed this earthly realm.  She was preceded in death by her son, Eric Davis; aunt/mom, Lottie McCan; her birth mother, Katie Ellis; husbands, Ray Jackson and Robert Rowe; sister-in-law, Doretha McCan; and her brother-in-law, Clinton Gulley.

Fond memories will forever be cherished by her loving children, Christopher (Simone) Davis and Lillian (Roger) Buchanan; grandchildren, Demauviya   Buchanan and Devonte Harp; godson, Ishmael Clark; siblings, Geneva Gulley, Jimmie McCan, Abbie McCan, Clemon (Cookie) Davis, Charles Davis, Laverne Blocker, Paul Blocker, Robert Blocker, Sharon Blocker, David Blocker, Kevin (Christine) Blocker, Kim Blocker, Michael Blocker and Venus Blocker; forty-four nieces and nephews; a host of great nieces and nephews; special cousins; church family; and three exceptional friends, Carol Jenkins, Silas Butler and Linda Jones.
