IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eula Bell
Dyson
June 13, 1943 – September 11, 2022
On June 13, 1943, Eunie Bell and Jefferson Hines were blessed with the birth of a beautiful angel, Eula Bell Hines.
She was the youngest daughter of seven children. She attended Monroe High School and graduated in 1961. She was an active participant in Dr. King 's Albany Movement. After a rally at Third Kiokee Church, Eula was arrested along with hundreds of other young adults (including her brother, John Calvin Hines) during a Civil Rights March from Monroe High School. There were so many protestors arrested that day, they were transported to jails throughout southwest Georgia. Eula was transported to Newton, GA. Her efforts made possible the civil rights we have today.
Eula accepted Christ at an early age at Third Kiokee Baptist Church in Albany, GA. She married Jimmie Dyson, III on March 3, 1962. Throughout her marriage, she was a traveling military housewife—stationed in Germany for many years.
She was an amazing mother to her four daughters.
In later years, she worked at the YMCA, the Pecan House, and Villa Garganos Restaurant. She spent most of her life doing things she loved —cooking, shopping, decorating, playing cards, dancing, and most of all —loving and caring for her family. Her pastime was interior decorating, and maintaining an immaculate house. Some of her cooking specialties were collard greens, candied yams, and pound cake —to name a few.
Eula breathed her last breath at the Phoebe Putney Hospital on September 11, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Dyson, her parents Jefferson and Eunie Hines, and five siblings: Melvin and Charles Webb (Mary), James (Mary) and John Hines, Willie Mae Harris, and a special nephew Darryl Keith Hines.
She leaves to mourn her daughters Jacquelyn (Dexter), Cassandra (David), Lawanda (Andre), and Tanya (Carlos); her six grandchildren: Danyale, Shamonika, Chiquita, Shambrica, Sherrod, Ashley and two bonus grandchildren Ira, and Teneille; 14 great grandchildren; her sister, Annie MaeGreen; brothers- and sisters -in-law Benjamin Dyson (Betty), Alvin Dyson (Henri-Jo), Abbie Harris, Mary Angry, Jeanette Lavant, Rosa Clark, and Doretha Taylor; and a host of nieces and nephews including a special niece Shirley Smith.
