Eula Mae Yancey Roberts was born in Acree, Georgia on August 22, 1920, to the late Vest and Myrtle Yancey.
Being raised in a Christian home where the Lord was deeply reverenced, Eula was taught the Word of God and the importance of living a life of kindness, perseverance, love, and strong character. Early in life, she was baptized and began her journey with the Lord. She was a dedicated member of Beulah Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully in numerous capacities for over 55 years. "Ms. Eula Mae, Grandma Eula, and Mother Roberts" as she was endearingly called, was a prayer warrior and her powerful and infectious faith in God kept her spiritually strong. She was known as a caring lady who was always available to lend an empathetic ear, ready to provide advice and guidance, and eager to lend a helping hand.
On December 17, 1938, she was united in marriage to Deacon Abraham Roberts. Their union was blessed with six wonderful children. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and meticulous homemaker who was most diligent in caring for the needs of her family. She had a quiet strength, never complained, and always had a beautiful, gentle smile.
Blessed beyond measure, Ms. Eula lived a rich and rewarding life; reached the hallowed age of 100; and was loved by all who had the privilege of her fellowship. In 2020 on her 100th birthday, she was presented a resolution by Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. Mother Roberts built an unmatched life of service and devotion to her family, friends, and community while opening the umbrella of her heart in countless ways. She shared a very special bond with her daughter, Rozena, who was her loving and dedicated caretaker; and her granddaughter, Raechelle, who was her special sidekick and could always lift her spirits. Her vast knowledge of the neighborhood history was heard in awe by many and made her an icon in the community. She was highly respected and loved by all whose lives she touched with her generosity and motherly understanding.
Mother Roberts quietly and peacefully transitioned from this earthly journey at her home on June 14, 2021. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Deacon Abraham Roberts; her son, Charlie; and her youngest son, Michael.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by her children, Freddie, Geneva, Rozena, and Ernest (Ruby): her sister, Willie Mae Hall; six stepchildren; eighteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a caring daughter-in-law, Kathleen Proctor Roberts; and a host of other family members, church family, and friends. Although absent from our midst, she will forever reside in our hearts.
