Obituary

Eunice Inell Solomon, beloved daughter of the late Aaron and Carrie Gordon, was born in Blakely, Georgia on February 14, 1931. At an early age, she moved to Albany, Georgia where she was raised by her loving aunt, Essie Beach.

She was educated in the Dougherty County School System and was active in numerous school functions and activities.

Early in life, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served faithfully for 45 years. Eunice was blessed with the gift of song and utilized her God-given talent as a member of the choir. She loved praising God and rejoiced as she melodiously ministered in song.

In 1948, she was united in holy matrimony to Daniel David Solomon, Sr.

Over the years, Eunice held several jobs, but she was most passionate about her work as a Private Duty Sitter. Her compassion, kindness, and devotion to all people are lasting tributes to the beauty of her heart and soul. She retired after 40 years of dedicated service.

In her free time, she was involved in numerous community projects and she was a member of the Albany Chapter of the Order of Eastern Stars .

Eunice was a bright star with a gentle heart that made a lasting impression on all those she met. She was a stern but caring mother who taught her children the value of hard work. When in her presence and engaging in thought-provoking conversation, Eunice would always "tell it like it was"; but there was always a lesson to be learned in what she said.

On Saturday, September 16, 2017 with her son George by her side, she was called to eternal rest at the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Cecil, David, and Robert Solomon; two grandsons, Vincent Price and Kendrick Miller; one great-granddaughter, Adrianna Holmes; one great grandson, Devon Solomon; eight siblings, Vallie James, Clara Grier, Bessie Grier, Arthel Gordon, James Gordon, Sylvester, Grier, Jerome Grier, and Richard Grier.

She is survived by five devoted children, Mary R. Minners, Daniel Solomon, Jr., James Solomon, George Solomon, and Gene Solomon; two daughters-in-law, Evelyn J. Solomon and Annie J. Solomon; one brother, Benjamin Grier of Tampa, FL; a very special niece whom she raised as her own, Bettye Brown of Blakely, GA; 16 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; four longtime friends, Adell Webb, Linda Kegler, Norma Jean Jones, and Annie C. James, a loving and caring caregiver, Arrica Hall; former son-in-law, Willie C. Cutts of Tampa, FL; and a host of extended family and friends.
