IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eva Mae
Davis
July 7, 1938 – November 16, 2021
Eva Mae Jackson Davis was born in Albany, Georgia on July 7, 1938, to the late Willie George Jackson and Missouri Holt Jackson. She had a total of nine siblings, eight of whom preceded her in death, Jimmy Jackson, George Jackson, Maggie Jackson Pless, Bobby Lee Jackson, Marie Jackson, JB Jackson, and two baby girls, Sally and Pearl who both died at birth.
She received her formal education in the Dougherty County School System, including Madison (Monroe) High School.
Mama Davis, as she is affectionately known, was a hard worker who showed her children and grandchildren how to provide and take care of business. She worked as an elevator operator at Rosenberg, a press operator at Snow White Laundry, and a machine operator at Coats and Clark. Additionally, she gave many years of her life fostering children who became family including Kimberly Barnes, Gregory Fuller, and Courtney Ward (Walker).
In her early years of parenting, Eva Mae always sent her girls to church, and one day they convinced her to go with them. From that day forward, she never looked back. Daily, at 12 Noon, you would find her reading her "Daily Bread", praying, and singing her "spirituals". She kept a covering over her family. She was a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church for decades. There, she was a soprano in the Senior Choir and was known for leading a song entitled, "The Holy Ghost" by Milton Brunson and the Thompson Community Singers. Most recently, she was a member of Oakridge Missionary Baptist Church. God called His good and faithful servant home on Tuesday afternoon, November 16, 2021 in the company of her loving family.
Eva is the mother of four lovely daughters, Calamity Stewart (Tommy), Gwendolyn Latson, Debbie Hird, and Palanthia Davis (Montrez). She was also blessed with eight grandchildren, Preston Fowler, Sr. (Lois), Torey Fowler, Martavis Stewart, Gwenetter Latson, Zanetter Simmons (Marcus), Martez G. Favis, LaMarcus Salters, Dylan Anderson. God granted her favor with seven great-grandchildren Precious Fowler, Jayla Fowler, Preston Fowler, Jr., MaKenzye Stewart, Trusten Fowler, Amirah Bethea, and Zi'riyan Salters. She leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Willie Mae Abney, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, spiritual children, church members, neighbors, friends, and loved ones.
