Obituary

Ms. Evelyn Bradford was born on January 14, 1941, in Worth County, Georgia.  She was the eldest of nine children in the union of the late Mr. Horace Bradford and Mrs. Willie Bell Bradford.

Evelyn joined Friendship Baptist Church in Oakfield, Georgia (now Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist) at an early age, where she served faithfully as one of the mothers of the church until her health declined. She was always encouraging and inspiring others through the sharing of her life experiences. She was educated in the Worth County School System. After graduating from J. W. Holley High School, she moved to Newark, New Jersey, where she was employed for many years.  Evelyn returned home upon the illness and ultimate death of her mother, after which she became the guardian of her younger siblings.

She walked, talked, and lived her ministry, which was service through helping anyone she could.  She enjoyed serving the seniors in the community through food preparation, and transporting them to various appointments, bible study, and grocery shopping. Evelyn was well known for always going above and beyond to illustrate her love by feeding the hungry; opening her home; praying for her family, friends, and community; and always providing a listening ear when needed.  She was a living Christian testimony of a "mother" through her actions and deeds. She always made everyone feel welcome. Her laughter was infectious, as was her wonderful sense of humor.

Evelyn transitioned on Friday, May 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Harmon Bradford; two sisters-in-law, Doris Bradford and Carol Bradford; and one brother-in-law, Charles Swan.

Loving memories will be forever cherished by her children, Willie David Bradford, Sr. (Audrey) of Albany, Georgia, Michael Bradford (Juanita) of Hoschton, Georgia, and Kimyanna Bradford of Kaiserslautern, Germany. She leaves to mourn her passing siblings Jimmy Bradford of Albany Georgia, Jewel Coleman of Riverdale, Georgia, Johnny Green (Shirley) of Gainesville, Florida, Earline Jones of Jonesboro, Georgia, Troice Bradford of Decatur, Georgia, Harold Bradford (Bernice) of Albany, Georgia, Jessie Swan of Jonesboro, Georgia, and Annie Rollerson (William) of Atlanta, Georgia.  Her legacy lives on through her loving grandchildren Durante Bradford (Tavia) of Katy Texas, Jeralyn Keel (Derrick) of Woodstock, Georgia, Willie David Jr. of Brookland Park, Minnesota, Vanessa Bradford of Richardson, Texas, Mickaela Bradford of College Park, Georgia, and Jerlyncia Bradford of Hoschton, Georgia and her great-grandchildren Lyric Monroe Bradford, Amun Ra El Bradford, Deryck Keel, Jenysis Keel, Rhys Bradford, and Munroe Bradford. She also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. She will always remain in the hearts of her bonus daughters Cathy Maxie, Janice Green (Donny), Denise Thomas (Bill), Harriet Hollis, and she will be remembered by her dear friends Luther Proctor, Irene Winbush, Ruth Robinson, and Cora Wormley.
