IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evins Trice,
Jr
November 23, 1941 – April 28, 2021
The journey of life for Evins Trice, Jr. began in Newton, Georgia on November 23, 1941. He was the beloved son of Ora Mae Jones Collins and the late Evins Trice, Sr.
He was educated in the Dougherty County School System. However, most of his educational experiences and life lessons were garnered from his great grandmother, father, and commonplace trials and tribulations.
Evins professed his faith and belief in Christ Jesus at an early age, was baptized, and received the "right hand of fellowship." In later years, he began a season of service and fellowship at Good Shepherd House of Worship under the leadership of the late Pastor Darryl Stokes and Prophetess Jacquelyn Stokes. His faith was his guiding light and allowed him to be an example for family and friends.
On May 27, 1961, Evins was united in marriage to his life-long mate, Geraldine Richardson. His love for his wife was unmatched—she was the sparkle in his eyes, the beat in his heart, and the air that he breathed. Together they created a home filled with love and strong family values. Evins was an awesome husband and father who took great care in providing for his family through his employment with MacGregor Golf Company. No matter what the task, he was a loyal employee who worked untiringly and retired after rendering years of dedicated service as a Machinist.
Evins was innately a nurturing and caring man who was humble, loving, and giving. His life was filled with many interesting experiences combined with various hobbies and pastimes. The simplest pleasures in life brought him great joy and happiness. He loved to fish and hunt, cook and entertain, and he was a great conversationalist who oftentimes reminisced about his childhood and humble beginnings. "Papa Doc," as he was sometimes called, enjoyed watching old westerns and sitcoms, wrestling, Three Stooges, and the news. He was an ardent listener of oldies and goodies, rhythm and blues, and gospel music; a connoisseur of fine food, beef tripe, pig feet, souse meat, blackberry dubbie, cantaloupe pie, and peanut butter treats; an all-time fan of sprite and water; and an avid user of Clorox Bleach which he used as a supplement to dishwashing liquid. Yes, he was a man who genuinely cherished every moment of his life—always looking forward to a better tomorrow.
Though Evins' earthly departure on April 28, 2021 leaves a void in the hearts of many, his caring spirit will always be remembered. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Geraldine Richardson Trice; his stepmother, Velvie Allen Trice; father-in-law, Elijah Richardson, Sr.; mother-in-law, Frances M.
