Freddie Lee Daniels, III was born in Sylvester, Georgia on February 13, 1943, to the late Idessa Washington and Fred Lee Daniels, Jr. He was reared by his grandparents, the late Fred Lee and Rose Daniels.
He was educated in the Worth County School System and garnered much from his educational experiences. Pontoe, as he was loving called, was taught to love the Lord early in life. He accepted Christ as his Savior and remained steadfast in service over the years.
Pontoe was ambitious and gave his best at everything he did. While living in Bronx, New York, he engaged in numerous occupations where he worked untiringly for many years. Having grown up in a family of barbers, Pontoe developed a passion for the trade and quickly grasped the skills and techniques of the profession. For more than 30 years, he was a highly respected and valued master barber at Eastside Barber Shop and Burroughs Barber Shop in East Albany where he gained the reputation of being "top notch" in his field.
A man of many talents, Pontoe was a great conversationalist who loved to share stories and words of wisdom and he had the unique ability to draw people towards him. Family was at the center of his life and he truly enjoyed every moment spent with them. He was a loving father, devoted brother, caring nephew, nurturing uncle, committed cousin, and loyal friend who will be deeply missed.
On October 1, 2021, Pontoe transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace and rest. He was preceded in death by his parents, Idessa (Willie P.) Jackson and Fred Lee (Mercedes) Daniels; his son, Reginald Washington; and granddaughter, Arielle Daniels.
Pontoe leaves cherished memories that will forever remain with his loving children, Dr. Sandra Washington, Frederick (Angelica) Daniels, Timothy (Alnita) Johnson, Talibah Daniels, and Akilah (Alfred) Daniels-Perry; ten siblings, Barbara Jackson, Ann (Jack) Thomas, Floyd Jackson, Betty Covin, Jimmy (Roberta) Covin, Arthur Covin, Clarence (Angie) Covin, Wendell (Gloria) Covin, Frederia Daniels, and Sharmaane (Timothy) Goff; grandchildren, Botovah, Timothy, Taylor, Starr, Jaylan, Londyn, King, Queen, and Alfred; great grandchildren, Talen and Ammure; a devoted companion and caregiver, Linda Jackson; uncle, James Daniels; and a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
