Obituary

Freddie Lee Porter, Jr. was born in Albany, Georgia on October 4, 1961.  He was the beloved son of the late Freddie Lee Porter, Sr. and Lessie Mae Edwards Porter.

He was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe Comprehensive High School.   During his school years, Freddie was a lively, strong-willed young man who was always ready for adventure; actively participated in numerous student organizations and activities; and gained valuable industrial and technical skills that followed him into adulthood.

Very early in life, Freddie was taught the Word of God and the importance of living a purposeful life.
As a youth, he accepted Christ as his Savior and united with the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church.  He dearly loved the Lord and remained humble and prayerful throughout life's journey.

Freddie was united in marriage to the love of his life, Faye Maiden Name.  They shared a love that knew no boundaries and a devotion to each other that was unshakeable.  Together, they created a home filled with love, respect, and strong family values.  As a husband and father, he proved to be a true anchor for his family and worked tirelessly to provide for them unconditionally.  His 30-year career with Proctor & Gamble was defined by hard work, high expectations, and unquestionable integrity.  Daily he poured himself into his work; always giving his very best, no matter what the task.  He was oftentimes described by co-workers and his supervisor as punctual, always prepared for work, jovial but sincere, and a very giving person who was proud of his work   record.

A strong but gentle man, Freddie's heart was filled with kindness and care.  He was deeply devoted to his family and friends, provided love and support to anyone in need, was accepting and forgiving, never met a stranger, and always found a silver lining in every situation.  When in his presence, there was never a dull moment.   He genuinely cherished every moment of his life and squandered nothing.  Freddie was quite possibly the best husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend anyone could every hope for.

Though Freddie's earthly departure on August 10, 2024 leaves a void in the hearts of many, his caring spirit will always be remembered.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Valerie L. PorterFleming.

Cherished memories will forever remain with wife, Faye Porter; his son, Demontray Porter; his siblings, Laura Porter, Dira Porter, and Stevie Porter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
