IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Freddie Mae
Stephens
April 15, 1938 – January 14, 2021
Freddie Mae Stephens, was born in Terrell County, Georgia on April 15, 1938. She was the beloved daughter of the late R. D. Heard and Mary Loud Daniels.
She received her early childhood education in the public schools of Terrell County.
From a very young age, Freddie Mae was nurtured in the Word of God. As a youth, she accepted Christ as her Savior and began her journey of Christian stewardship at Mount Early Baptist Church. Over the years, she was a faithful member and devoted herself to unparalleled service as an Usher. When standing at the doors of the church, there was always a smile on her face when greeting the congregation. The fact that the Lord called her to duty—to serve was an honor and she showed great pride and love in her ministry.
She was united in marriage to her life-long mate, Will Stephens. They shared a love and a devotion to one another that endured through the years and was unshakeable. As a wife and mother, Freddie Mae took great care in providing for her family through her employment at Flint River Textiles Cotton Mill for more than 40 years. Upon retirement, she was lauded as a loyal and dedicated employee. Never satisfied with idleness, she re-entered the workforce, joining the ranks of employees at the Boys and Girls Club until her health declined. No matter what the task, she stayed the course to ensure that nothing was ever left undone..
Freddie Mae was a very compassionate, humble, loving, and giving individual whose life was filled with many interesting experiences. She had a big heart, gave of herself freely, loved unconditionally, and impacted the lives of everyone around her in a very special way. To some, she was known as Mother Stephens ; to others, she was lovingly called Ms. Freddie Mae ; but to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, she was simply known as MA! She dearly loved her family and was a true and dependable friend. Her kind spirit and "open arms" will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
On January 11, 2021, Almighty God called his faithful servant home to eternal peace and rest. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Will Stephens; her daughter, Emma Jackson; four siblings, Rosie Stephens, Corine Harrold, O. C. Heard, and Willie D. Heard; and a special niece, Brenda Harrold.
Loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of children, Mary Ann (Calvin) Teemer and Willie James (Contrina) Jackson of Albany, GA; her sister, Willie Bell Walker of Albany, GA; two uncles, Solomon Loud, Sr. of Terrell County, GA and Jesse Loud of Miami, FL; grandchildren, Nakia (Winston) Thomas, Dyshelda (Rondell) Leonard, Staff Sgt.
